TRVE Brewing Collaboration Labels

During my time at New Image Brewing we collaborated with our friends at TRVE Brewing on several beers. I had the absolute privilege of designing wild labels for these collaborations. The brief was to find a balance between the cartoonish style of New Image and the heavy metal style of TRVE Brewing. What I landed on was a minimalistic and shadow heavy illustration style, reminiscent of comic book illustrators like Mike Mignola or Alex Toth.

The brief for this beer was abstract. TRVE and New Image wanted themes of duality and the cosmos with a heavy metal influence.

The brief for this label was very straight forward, create an illustration based of Tenacious D’s song Tribute. In the song Jack Black and Kyle Gass come across a demon while traveling down a “long and lonesome road”. The demon demands they play the best song in the world or it will eat their souls.
