Odyssey Beerwerks - Label Redesigns

Packaging, Illustration & Typography

Odyssey Beerwerks reached out to me to redesign their core lineup and create two new label designs. They were seeking a cleaner, more streamlined aesthetic that would still maintain visual ties to their existing branding. The goal was to enhance shelf appeal and boost sales in liquor stores by more effectively capturing customer attention.

Ghost Drifter

For Ghost Drifter, my goal was to simplify the overall design while making the label more visually striking. The new ship illustration faces the viewer to create a more dynamic and engaging composition, taking center stage as the focal point of the artwork. I also incorporated a few subtle elements from the original design as Easter eggs, offering a nod to longtime fans.

Psycho penguin

As with Ghost Drifter, the goal for Psycho Penguin was to simplify the design by removing excess detail and redefining the visual hierarchy to highlight a single, central illustration. Odyssey emphasized that the penguin should appear mischievous and wild—but not evil. Since this is one of their most popular beers, we went through an extensive ideation process (see images below) before arriving at the final design: a playful penguin rendered in a classic, vintage cartoon style.

Clarity Kills

Clarity Kills is a new West Coast IPA introduced to replace a retired core product. For this label, Odyssey had a distinct vision: something that stood apart from the rest of their lineup. They wanted a single, striking skull—dark, metal-inspired, and unapologetically grim.

Cerveza Del Mar

Although Cerveza Del Mar isn’t part of Odyssey’s core lineup, its popularity as a seasonal favorite made it a priority for an updated label. The refresh involved only minor artistic changes and reformatting it to fit the new template. I enhanced the contrast and vibrancy to ensure the design stands out on shelves and effectively captures consumer attention.

Heliocentric

This design underwent minimal changes. Odyssey wanted to migrate the existing illustrations to their updated label template and make slight color adjustments to enhance vibrancy and overall contrast.
